Dear Volunteers,
We've had an urgent call from the SPCA, Noah's Ark and other animal organizations in Johor Bahru. Noah's Ark rescued over 200 animals from the floods a few days ago and SPCA members – all working voluntarily – rescued over 70 animals, injured and ill as a result of the floods 2 days ago. They are badly in need of funds for medicines etc. We have already decided to send a lorry of dog food down but we badly need your help to raise funds, because – strangely – we cannot just give them money from our funds.
We are going to be doing a fundraiser on Saturday and Sunday – definitely during the day but maybe in the evening as well. Venues are yet to be confirmed but they will probably be in KL centre and Bangsar and Ikano power centre.
If you could spare 1 or 2 hours only to sell some merchandise and collect donations it would be truly appreciated. In the midst of such awful, tragic human misery we mustn't forget the defenceless animals who have also lost homes and are ill or at danger from the dirty waters and disease.
We don't normally ask for help at such short notice, but this really is an emergency.
Please let me know asap if you are able to help and I will let you know a date and venue once they're confirmed (Jacinta's working flat out to get us venues!)
Thank you, thank you, thank you in advance for your kindness.
Best wishes, Louise

200 animals rescued after floods in southern Malaysia
Sunday, January 28, 2007
Animal welfare activists have rescued nearly 200 dogs and cats believed to have been abandoned by their owners during severe floods in southern Malaysia, an animal shelter official said today.
Malaysian and Singaporean volunteer workers found the animals, some of which had been roaming the streets, over the past month amid some of the worst floods in Johor state's history, said Lynda Goh, a spokeswoman for the Noah's Ark Natural Animal Sanctuary in Johor.
``Some dogs had wounds and cuts and they were nursed back to health,'' Goh said, adding that some young dogs suffered pneumonia while two had to have their injured legs amputated.
Johor, Malaysia's southernmost state bordering Singapore, was twice hit by heavy rains that triggered floods since mid-December, leaving at least 17 people dead. Some 100,000 people were forced to evacuate their houses, but more than half of them have since returned.

Bear and Tigger for adoption Urgent
|
|
Hi
Please help to find a home for these puppies. Both were rescued from the
streets and in urgent need of a good and loving home. Their details are as below:
Bear : He is 4 months plus. Father unknown. Mother is local dog but looks
like an Alastian. Bear has come out looking very much like a German
Shepherd. He has taken his 3 booster shots. Very well behaved.
Tigger : He is about 1 year old. Unique colour, golden yellow with black
stripes, like a tiger. Picked up at a car park where he has been hiding
under a rubble of concrete, his home for a some time until discovered. He
is also very well behaved. He is now together with Bear and his mother.
Tigger has also been vaccinated.
Both dogs are well behaved, disciplined and can understand instructions.
Knows how to come home if they should get out.
Need all the help to re-home them. Bear's brothers and sisters (5 in all)
were re-home much earlier at 2 months plus and he is the only one left.
*Contact Deborah at 016-3304533. Please circulate to your friends if you
know they are may be interested in adopting.*

Thanks
